Cybele Forest Lodge & Spa

As you travel into the cool of the forest country, deeper and higher, far into the mountains you will find Cybele Forest Lodge and Health Spa.

Three hundred acres of african paradise, living forest, mountains and meadows. In the centre, the lodge is a charming old farmhouse with a wide verandah where you can sip sundowners whilst looking out over the magnificent gardens. Let the world slip away as you watch the monkeys cavorting in the giant turpentine trees. Take in the cool violet of the jacaranda, the shocking pink of the tibouchina and the scarlet umbrella of the african flame tree. Wander down to the large secluded heated swimming pool with its comfortable sun beds. Here you can relax and listen to the creaking of the bluegum trees in the forest breeze and breathe in the heady aromas of frangipani, gardenia and buddleia.

In striking contrast to the vivid colours and lush greenery of the garden, the interior of the lodge is warm and inviting. Furnished throughout with antiques, original art and exquisite fabrics, the main house is a most relaxing place to read a book or to browse through one of the many current magazines from all over the world. Set in the heart of the Sabi Sands Game Reserve that borders the sprawling Kruger National Park in South Africa's Mpumalanga province, Ulusaba Private Game Reserve awaits as your ultimate destination for a Big Five safari in South Africa.

Because Ulusaba is privately owned, you'll be able to enjoy over 10 000 acres of unspoilt, game-rich bush in near solitude. Experienced trackers and game rangers will accompany you on game drives in open land rovers, tracking the Big Five and sharing with you their vast knowledge of the surrounding wildlife.

As a private game reserve, our emphasis is on exceptional personal service. Both of our luxury safari lodges cater for small groups, so your safari in South Africa is guaranteed to be exclusive and private. What's more, our attentive staff and superb facilities will ensure that being in the middle of the African bush does not need to mean foregoing creature comforts. You'll have the unique sights, sounds and smells of Africa on your doorstep - while still enjoying the kind of style and luxury you'd expect from a five star boutique hotel.

Accommodation:
There are two lodges at Ulusaba.

One is perched high on the summit of a koppie (rocky hill) and we call it Rock Lodge.
Here you will find spectacular panoramic views over miles of bush, the wildlife roaming within, the beauty of the lowveld (bushy grassland plain) below, all set against a backdrop of the Drakensberg Moutain range far in the distance.

Safari Lodge is built along the banks of the dry Mabrak riverbed.
The rooms are built 'tree house' style and you really get the feeling of being at the heart of life in the bush. Your room will provide fascinating views of the animals as they stroll past on their way to the nearby watering hole.

Leopard Hills

Enjoy the privacy of your suite and salute the timelessness of Africa over a drink or snack from your fully stocked mini bar. Or savour the day, either in your hammock or pool lounger outside, whilst listening to the tranquil sound of the surrounding bushveld. Accommodation:
The lodge is built on a hill overlooking a natural waterhole. Each of the eight luxurious glass-fronted suites, complete with their own sundeck and heated rock plunge pool offer superb views of the African bushveld beyond.

The suites are generously spacious and immense in stature. Air-conditioning and overhead fans provide welcome respite against the harsh African heat. The breath-taking romantic bathrooms, which include double indoor and outdoor showers, have windows, which open to a glorious view of the passing cavalcade below. Tuningi Safari Lodge

A member of The Leading Independent Hotels of Southern Africa - situated in the world renowned 165, 000 acre malaria-free Big 5 Madikwe Game Reserve.

The private and exclusive, Tuningi Safari Lodge offers both local and international guests a superior product enhanced by an impressive Big 5 safari experience.

Tuningi is one of the very few 5-star lodges in South Africa that welcomes children and in by doing so, avails them of the wonders of nature, wildlife and our delicate eco-system.

The design brief, for the exclusive bush villas, was to create space by blending interiors with the bush through utilising retractable doors and windows wherever possible.

The theme of the décor is ‘Colonial African chic’ and the main thatched lodge offers a sumptuous lounge, a spacious dining room and a well-stocked bar with an impressive rim flow pool that overlooks a watering hole, all interlinked by a sweeping wooden deck that leads to the boma area.

As night sets in, lanterns and candles are lit and the mood goes from bush to baroque. Guests return from their game drive to be presented with a bush extravaganza dinner, prepared by Tuningi’s Executive Chef, in the boma with a blazing log fire to keep them warm.

Tuningi’s game rangers are of course highly qualified but more than this they have a skill for making guests feel passionate about the environment and wildlife while offering a unique opportunity for those willing to be educated on many aspects of wildlife and bush etiquette either on foot, for those brave enough, or in 4x4 open air vehicles. Lion, elephant, buffalo, white and black rhino, leopard and the rare and endangered wild dog are only some of the unique sightings to experience during your stay.

Accommodation:
‘Little Tuningi’ accommodates only 6 (six) guests in unsurpassed luxury with a designer kitchen, boma area, dinning room, lounge, wrap around wooden deck and private pool.
Purposely designed, ‘Little Tuningi’, is completely self-contained for those guests that are in search of ultimate privacy. Guests do of course have access to the Main Lodge area and its facilities.

Tuningi Safari Lodge can accommodate 16 (sixteen) guests in exclusive bush villas and the lodge itself has been designed in such a way that it can be divided for families, intimate groups or VIP’s in search of utter privacy - a concept that is unique to Tuningi.

Facilities and Services:

All rooms at Tuningi and Little Tuningi have air conditioning, ceiling fans, gas fireplaces, en-suite bathrooms, beautifully appointed baths, outdoor rock showers and private wrap around wooden decks. The design brief was to create space by blending interiors with the bush through utilising retractable doors and windows wherever possible.

Timbavati Safaris

Akeru

At Akeru, you will find a refuge - a place of exquisite beauty and peace set amidst several thousand hectares of pristine Timbavati Wilderness, which is part of the greater Kruger Park Ecosystem. You will return restored and rejuvenated - having absorbed the magical energy and spiritual presence inherent to the bush - a natural "tonic" that everyone should experience on a regular basis. Akeru is situated in the Timbavati Game Reserve in the Northern Province, South Africa. For millions of years, the Timbavati has remained untouched, retaining its wild rugged character and is home to all of Africa's big game. It is also the spiritual home of the White Lion, that has been called…...Akeru.

Accommodation:
Akeru is a small, intimate camp which accommodates just sixteen guests. It is ideal for hosting small gatherings of family, friends, mini brain storming sessions, staff incentives and children of all ages are welcome.
Lanterns for light, eco-friendly battery power for fans and gas geysers for hot water are just some of the specifics that ensure an original luxurious rustic bush experience. Four poster beds, white linen and draped mosquito nets ensure absolute romance.
Each of the seven thatched chalets is en-suite with both shower and bath. The rooms offer a combination of family suites, doubles and twins to satisfy everyone's specific requirements.

Facilities and Services:

We have created a home away-from-home that is completely relaxed, tranquil and informal. The social area includes a lounge with fireplace, a bar, an elevated loft area, an inside and outside dining area and the ultimate al fresco experience - an open air boma.
The camp over looks a waterhole which is visited by the Timbavati’s small and big game. Time stands still here for guests who while away many an hour relaxing at the pool watching the animals quench their thirst.
Our professional armed rangers and trackers conduct all game drives in pursuit of Africa's big five and other game, birds and reptiles. Daily walks are encouraged, thus ensuring that the more fascinating aspects of our fauna and flora are not overlooked - emphasising an appreciation of the complete wilderness experience.
Meals are typical "home-cooking" gastronomic affairs and great care is taken to ensure that even the most discerning taste buds are well satisfied. Our safaris depart just after sunrise each day in an open fully equipped vehicle. Tracking Africa's big game, the evening safari leaves after you have enjoyed afternoon tea and continues into the night after sundowners at a panoramic viewpoint. The evening holds a sense of anticipation as the rare and elusive nocturnal species begin their night activities.
